Showcase | Merry-Go-Round

The Merry-Go-Round.

What can summon of warm + fuzzy feelings of childhood like a merry-go-round? Well, maybe not warm + fuzzy . . . those things were dangerous after all. But we 80′s + 90′s kids (and previous decades, I’m sure) were a tough breed. Now the playgrounds are covered in “nerf” and the first thing to go is was the beloved merry-go-round (along with the teeter-totter + metal slides).

A family friend of ours boards horses here in SoCal and happens to have this amazing merry-go-round on his property. I’ve already told him if he ever wants to get rid of it, I’m his girl. Where will I put it? Dunno, but’s it’s a chippy-painted pastel colored metal merry-go-round. Sure, you may need a tetanus shot just looking at it . . . (not really, it’s safe, pink-swear) . . . but it’s fun for both the kid being photographed AND the photographer.

All images were processed with the new Florabella Actions “Colorplay” set. Click here to go check them out. Though, as lovely as they are, I haven’t used her new Light + Flares set (though you may dig ‘em) . . . as always, all of my sunflares are 100% natural (I get asked about it A LOT).

For this shoot I began shooting at around 4:30pm, which was far too bright for my tastes so we stuck to the open shade areas. You can see a few examples below (the last image of her in the red, the in the barn shots) and then gradually made our way to the merry-go-round where the sun was jusssst right for what I was hoping to accomplish.

That last image doesn’t really “go” with the set, but it’s one of my favorites. So in it goes.

And oh, and by-the-way . . . you’re aren’t losing your marbles, that outfit has been featured on the Reverie Blog before. Remember the showcase “Vintage Rainbow Brite”  . . .  that’s right! The photographer put it up for auction and I happened to win. Now, that’s not an outfit you can use too many times. I may have one more go with it a+ then put it up for sale for another photographer to enjoy.

I will keep you posted on the auction-goodness. If you won, what would you do with it?

Until next time!

- Skye, xoxo

  2. Ohhh I want to win! We are doing our family pictures in front of the Eiffel Tower this year with Hunter Leone and I wanted the whole family to do a circus type theme. This would be perfect for my daughter!
