Concept Shoots

School Collaboration

Today we have a collaboration of two photographers — two friends, Tara of Tara Lindley Photography and Susie of Vintage Willow Photography have joined creative forces to bring their school-inspired vision to life. Read on below:

In Tara’s own words: “The very first day my daughter started preschool I began planning a special school themed session for the year she started kindergarten. The countdown has begun. School supplies are packed in her backpack, uniforms are hanging in her closet. Orientation is right around the corner. Ready or not, my big girl will be starting kindergarten in less than two weeks! Collaborating with a good friend and fellow photographer, we put together an amazing school days shoot. I’m in love with everything about it! Be prepared for cuteness overload. I still can’t believe I have a child going into Kindergarten! I am not ready, but am so excited for my sweet girl to meet new friends, grow and thrive on this new adventure. Of course I brought my other munchkins in on the fun. I especially love how my little boy kept trying to sneak all the apples. I think by the end of the session almost every single apple had been bitten into! They are all just growing way too fast!!”

In Susie’s (Vintage Willow) own words: “For some time now, my lovely friend and fellow photographer and I, have been planning a special school themed session for our little ones. With my last baby (yeah, I know she’s five) starting kindergarten this year, I wanted to really capture the moment for her.  We searched high and low for just the right desks without any luck . . .well, when I was in Indiana this summer I stumbled upon two (yes two!) of the most darling antique desks. They were not in great shape, to say the least and I spent many hours restoring these lovely pieces but they only cost me $35 — Can you believe it!? We found the perfect spot to shoot this special session, gathered up the little one, and a ton of apples and headed out. It was such fun and we definately have some great memories from this session with our kiddos . . . every apple was bitten into, sweat dripping from everyone, and of course a little crying to go with all the fun. But in the end — we have these amazing images that we will always treasure of our little ones! And that’s what counts . . .”
